Reba McEntire - Duets
(MCA Nashville)
Released: September 18, 2007
Country music should be so country, it makes one dizzy. A fiddle or two,
a steel guitar. There should be some talk about lovin', cheatin',
drinkin', and dyin'.
It should be Reba. Our parents had Loretta, we've got Reba.
Thank goodness.
If there was any reason to doubt why Reba is the undisputed queen of
today's country music - and has been for the past fifteen years or so -
just take a look at who's with her on this collection.
Kelly Clarkson - who gets top billing on the copy of "Because of You"
that I got. Faith Hill. LeAnn Rimes. Vince Gill.
And Don Henley. Yes, I know that "Because of You" is the first hit from
this album. But for my money, Ms. McEntire and Mr. Henley in "Break Each
Other's Hearts Again" is worth every penny. If you don't get anything
else, spend a buck, and grab this one.
When I did my time at a country radio station, the Program Director
wasn't buying that Olivia Newton-John was country. he said that
the music had to be so country, it would make...um...the family
jewels...ache.
If he was alive today, I think he'd say thank goodness for Reba, and her
pals on this disc. She hasn't lost a step.
It's nice to know that some folks still know how to make real country
music.
Very highly recommended.
