Liz McMahon - Right As Rain (McMahon Creative)
Released: September, 2003

This one was a "friend of a friend" referral from a pal in Michigan, Bill Szumanski. Ms. McMahon is active in music/theatre circles in Tucson, Arizona, and an old classmate of Bill's.

I was frankly hesitant. What if I didn't like it? Would a non-review send a strong message?

Not to worry.

The straight-ahead backing combo is just right to showcase Ms. McMahon's fine voice - a voice with great range.  That backing group is headlined by Lisa Otey, who plays piano and produces several of the tracks.

Mostly standards - Highlights include "Come Rain Or Come Shine," and "Give Me The Simple Life." Ms. Otey offers a duet on "Home Is Where The Heart Is," a gentle reminder that there are all kinds of loving families in the world.  That track also highlights Ms. McMahon's emotional range.

The world outside of Tucson needs to hear - and hear about - Ms. McMahon.

Recommended...the disc (and samples) are available at CD Baby.

Two and one-half microphones (out of four)
