Susan Cagle - The Subway Recordings (Columbia/Sony)
Released - May, 2006

                    - "Manhattan Cowboy" (Susan's Studio Mix)
Released - August 22, 2006

So...let me see if I've got this straight. Young woman flees from family inside some kind of religious cult. Arrives in New York with her guitar, becomes a busker, develops a sort of following, records a couple of sets, is "discovered" and inks a deal with Columbia/Sony.

Then - those who thought she was pretty hot stuff before, now think she's sold out.

Do I just about have that right?

Oh, then. Bummer. That must be why she opened for MTV's Video Music Awards the other night, and why the record company is hyping the dickens out of her "first studio" recording coming up early next year.

My old Top-40 ears say "Manhattan Cowboy" ought to be a hit. Already is on the 'pod. Sorry, guys. No shame in making hits. Does Ms. Cagle sound a little like Cheryl Crow? Yep. Is that necessarily a bad thing? Nope.

"The Subway Recordings" aren't as polished as the pre-released studio single, "Manhattan Cowboy." Go pick that one up at iTunes, and tell me it's not worth it.

Infectious, fun, and a killer hook. Go play it in your convertible.  Play it loudly.

"The Subway Recordings" suffers from a poor quality recording. Wait for the studio release. Buy the single for now, and I'll just bet you play it a lot.
