Sara Bareilles - Little Voice (Epic) Released: July 17, 2007 Forget all the other tracks on this disc - and they're all very good. Forget whatever else you may hear on the radio, on MySpace, or anywhere else. The money track on this disc is "Vegas." Had me looking for "11" on the volume knob. It's a hoot. Self-taught, musically - it would be easy to compare Sara Bareilles (bar-rell-is, according to her website) to others. I found myself comparing others to her. This, friends, is what Madeline Peyroux (and I like her very, very much) should sound like. The edge is still there. But smoother. The songs sound bluesy to me, but the lyrics are mostly surprisingly upbeat. Every tune an original, the lyrics are smart - the killer line from "Love On The Rocks" is "My friends say I look better without you." Funny. Intelligent. Good stuff. Kudos to Eric Rosse, who (it seems) does everything except press the discs. The credits list reads, "Mandolin, Percussion, Arranger, Piano (Electric), Programming, Producer, Engineer, String Arrangements, Mixing, Overdub Engineer, Vocal Engineer." Yow. Highly Recommended.
